Hi, Snezza. Thanks for responding.

I am not an expert, and I have assumed that anti-slam, soft-close and damper devices all have a similar function. The one used on the larder pullout seems to be a piston-based damping mechanism, though I've not taken one apart. On the drawers  the device is shaped like a tapered, wedge-shaped rectangle which is engaged by a small spigot which sticks out of the side of the drawer.

My understanding is that they are optional bolt-on accessories which usually fit directly to the runner/slide mechanism of the drawer or pullout, though some suppliers, for all I know, may supply the drawers with them already fitted by the manufacturer.

When fitted, they do look like they're designed to be there, but they're by no means fitted as standard. Some suppliers 'throw them in', (or half of them in my case???) but others charge what can be quite high prices for these optional add-ons.

The cabinets are from the JJO ECO range.

I just want to find out if it's good or bad practice to fit them on one side only when it's clearly designed to accommodate two.

I hope this clarifies my request.

trevarrick.

I
